Each week the students will move through a different unit within the curriculum. Every class will consist of Spark Starters, group, cooperative, team building, and strategy games, Followed by exploration of the focused activity depending on your child’s age and ability. Students will enhance their fine and gross motor skills, movement patterns, as well as their knowledge of a variety of different sports. I use a combination of music, and my own passion for sports to create, a fun, engaging, class that your child will love.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This class is a fun motor skill activity and has emerged as a stand-alone sport in 2001! I incorporate traditional speed stacking skills, as well as other aspects of physical fitness, through relays, sprints, games and much more. This sport plays no favorites on the athletic ability or size. Anyone can learn, try and succeed! Speed stacking only takes one time to get hooked, is enjoyable by all levels and is incredibly fun. Kids will also have the opportunity to build and create their own masterpieces. Creativity really can come alive here!
Skillastics Curriculum: Is a physical education program geared to keep kids moving and engaged through a range of different movements and challenges. When we combine Skillastics Curriculum along with traditional speed stacks, it raises the element of fun and competition. The kids don't even realize they are active and moving!
I am passionate about this sport because it brings together such a sense of cooperative learning and exploration that the kids really enjoy. This generates great enthusiasm and learning opportunities within the class that the kids will love and carry over to other sports.
Course Description: This course will focus on the fundamental components and principles of fitness and activity. Students will enhance their fine and gross motor skills, movement patterns, as well as their knowledge of a variety of different sports, through group & cooperative games. I will use SPARK Curriculum, (a program designed specifically for Kindergartners through 3rd grade), music and my own love of sports to create a fun, dynamic, and engaging class that your child will love.
What to Expect: The students will move through a different units within the curriculum. Through this program your child will: Improve levels of health and fitness, learn and develop new skills in an organized manner, develop social skills and interaction with other classmates and friends, work on self-esteem and confidence, and will allow fun, safe social interactions with other students and cooperative play.
Students will explore and be surprised at all the different ways a simple hula hoop and bean bag can be used. They will be faced with fun, age-appropriate challenges and tasks given to create an active, fun class, full of upbeat, and dynamic individual, partner and group games. Skills learned-enhanced fine and gross motor, spatial awareness, movement patterns, catching, throwing, control, balance, and cooperative play.
Students will learn different grips, games, and ways to make a parachute come alive! This unit is especially fun as there is a number of strategic games that can be played, but only if the class works together to get the final result. Students will also learn basic jump rope skills and explore the many different ways and games a simple jump rope can offer! Skills learned: Basic movement patterns, group cooperation, gross motor skills, spatial awareness, jumping, balance.
Students will explore using a variety of different play balls. They will be challenged with various tasks and games using cooperative throwing in a group setting. Games and activities are geared to promote team building and strategy among classmates. This is an upbeat, music filled class that your child will love. Skills Learned: leadership, cooperation, strategy, social interaction, throwing, catching, bouncing, enhanced fine/gross motor skills, balance, control and special awareness.
This class is full of fun challenges and the different types of movement involving the whole body. Your child will have the opportunity to create and imagine their way through the games, building their self-confidence. Skills Worked on: Levels and kinds of movement, direction, rate or tempo pathways, gross motor, static and dynamic balance.

Students will learn the foundations of each sport with modified rules depending on age and ability. They will also participate in weekly fitness goals to achieve certain standards throughout the year. My goal is to lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle, improve physical activity, knowledge of sports, and an overall love for PE
Students will learn basic soccer fundamentals and skills, through a series of fun drills, stations, games. Each class will consist of group building and team cooperation games including soccer, marbles and baseketball . Each class will end with full soccer game.
This class will provide activities for students to practice, develop and apply skills such as dribbling, passing, pivoting, ball handling and shooting create their own ball routines. They will also work through various skilled stations, activity challenges, and team games including knock out, around the world, 3 on 3, and half court. Basketball etiquette, team cooperation and sportsmanship are values and concepts that I will continuously weave into each of my lesson plans.
Students will gain knowledge on basic positions and the functions of those positions. All students will have the opportunity to play QB, RB, C, and WR. They will learn the game of football as they develop fundamentals of throwing catching, offense and defense. Two hand touch and Ultimate football will be played at the end of each class.
Includes badminton, pickleball and volleyball. Students will learn basic rules, and hits/serves etc. We often play these games with a fun twist to allow for more kids to be engaged at one time. I'm always surprised to find out which of the 3 games each student ended up liking the best.
Students will learn a variety of frisbee throws including backhand, forehand, hammer and trick throws and when to use each one in a game. They will work together in groups to practice their frisbee skills. They will play ultimate frisbee as well as frisbee golf spanning the park.
Always a class favorite! Kids will learn basic rules and safety while playing the game. Depending on the age and the dynamic of the class, we often practice with a variety of different type of sport balls to keep more kids involved, the game flowing and less intimidating.
Students will participate in capture the flag with a twist. They will learn a variety of ways to play the game including 4-way capture the flag. Students will learn different ways of playing dodgeball from all over the world. Including prison, doctor, and sniper, dodgeball. This class is always a crowd favorite.
This will be dynamic, high-energy class, and possibly your child’s favorite. I will introduce the different types of throws using a dodgeball, football and frisbee, and then break out into a game of Ultimate Handball, Ultimate football and Ultimate frisbee. The three games are played almost identically but the ball is different each game.
